The Nigerian Copyright Commission arraigned Emmanuel Analike yesterday at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Prosecutors charged the chief executive officer of the NetNaija movies website with multiple counts of copyright infringement.
Officials accused Emmanuel Analike of possession, reproduction, and distribution of pirated movies and music through the site. The charges focused directly on activities linked to NetNaija.
Emmanuel Analike pleaded “not guilty” to every count. He made the plea in open court during the arraignment.
The judge remanded Emmanuel Analike in Kuje Correctional Centre after the plea. Authorities took him into custody right away. The court fixed March 9 for the bail ruling. Both sides now prepare arguments for that hearing.
