Liverpool returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday. The Reds defeated Fulham 2-0 at Anfield and halted a run of three straight losses.
The home side pressed high from the start. Liverpool created several chances in the opening half-hour. Fulham defended deep but struggled to clear the ball.
Seventeen-year-old Rio Ngumoha broke the deadlock in the 36th minute. The teenager collected a pass from Florian Wirtz on the left side of the box. Ngumoha fired a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. The goal marked Ngumoha’s first at Anfield. The crowd erupted as Liverpool took a 1-0 lead.
Four minutes later Mohamed Salah doubled the advantage. Cody Gakpo set up the Egyptian forward, who finished calmly from inside the box. Liverpool went into half-time with a 2-0 lead and firm control of the match.
The second half stayed competitive yet Liverpool stayed organised. Fulham pushed forward at times but failed to test goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. Liverpool defended well and limited clear chances. The final whistle confirmed the 2-0 scoreline.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot oversaw the victory from the touchline. The result lifted Liverpool to fifth place in the table. The Reds now sit one point behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. The win ended their recent slump and boosted confidence ahead of the next fixtures.
