Fubara Swears In Five Commissioners After Assembly Screening

Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers state, swore in five commissioners on Wednesday at the executive council chambers of the government house in Port Harcourt. The governor charged the appointees to contribute effectively to the state’s development agenda.

The new commissioners include Tonye Bellgam, Temple Nwofor, Peters Nwagor, Lekue Kenneth, and Amairigha Edward Hart. Their appointments followed screening and confirmation by the Rivers state house of assembly.

Fubara commended the Rivers state house of assembly for what he described as “rigorous” screening of the nominees. He noted that the thoroughness of the process demonstrated the legislature’s commitment to ensuring qualified individuals serve in his administration.

The commissioners expressed readiness to discharge their duties. They pledged to support the governor’s vision for the state and to work diligently in their respective portfolios.

The swearing-in ceremony occurred amid ongoing political dynamics in Rivers state. Furthermore, the event marked another step in Fubara’s efforts to constitute his cabinet following previous political tensions in the state.

The governor urged the new commissioners to prioritize the welfare of Rivers residents in their policy implementation. He also emphasized the importance of teamwork among cabinet members to achieve set objectives.
