Four dead as armed bandits fleeing Kwara attack Kogi villages

Four men were killed on Thursday morning after alleged armed bandits fleeing military operations in Kwara State attacked several communities in Kogi State.

This was contained in a post shared on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X.

According to Makama, the attackers, reportedly travelling on motorcycles, entered Kogi through bush paths from Patigi in Kwara State and moved through Bunu and Kiri communities, firing indiscriminately.

The victims were identified as Dare Olorunfemi, 34, of Ihale community; John (surname unknown), 33, of Taki area; Abdul Siworo, 33, of Ike area; and Oladele Samuel, 25, of Ayetoro-Kiri community.

Makama revealed that eyewitnesses said the bandits continued towards the Kakanda/Ankumi forest in Obajana, Lokoja Local Government Area, leaving residents terrified.

Intelligence sources indicated the attackers have taken refuge around Masalacin Boka area.

Security forces have since intensified efforts to safeguard the affected communities and prevent further attack.
