Federal Government Criticizes Quality of Work on Key Nasarawa Road Project

The Federal Government expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of work performed by Wizchino Engineering Limited on the Keffi-Nasarawa-Toto-Abaji road in Nasarawa State. Officials raised concerns about the construction standards during recent inspections of the critical infrastructure project.

Minister of Works David Umahi voiced strong criticism regarding the execution of the road rehabilitation. He stated, “The quality of work done by Wizchino Engineering is not acceptable. We will not compromise on standards.” Umahi emphasized that the government expected higher standards from contractors handling federal projects.

The Keffi-Nasarawa-Toto-Abaji road serves as a vital transportation corridor connecting multiple communities across Nasarawa State. Furthermore, the highway links important agricultural and commercial zones to the Federal Capital Territory. Consequently, the quality of this infrastructure directly impacts economic activities and daily commuting for thousands of residents.

Federal officials demanded immediate corrections to substandard sections of the road. In addition, they threatened contract termination if the engineering firm failed to meet specified requirements. The ministry scheduled follow-up inspections to verify compliance with construction standards.

Wizchino Engineering Limited received the contract to rehabilitate the deteriorated highway. However, the company now faces pressure to demonstrate improved performance. Representatives from the firm did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the government’s criticism.

The ministry established a timeline for remedial work on the affected portions of the road. Meanwhile, officials maintained that substandard construction would not be accepted on federal projects regardless of contractual obligations. The government reiterated its commitment to delivering durable infrastructure to citizens.
