EPL: Man City Drop Points as Nottingham Fight Back for Stunning 2-2 Draw

Nottingham Forest twice fought back to snatch a point and dent Manchester City’s title hopes at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

Manchester City controlled the opening stages and created several chances. Erling Haaland nearly scored from close range while Phil Foden tested goalkeeper Matz Sels. The breakthrough arrived in the 31st minute. City forward Antoine Semenyo met a cross from Rayan Cherki and volleyed past Sels for a 1-0 lead.

Nottingham Forest stayed compact and waited for opportunities. After halftime, the visitors equalised in the 56th minute. Defender Ola Aina surged forward and crossed. Forward Igor Jesus nodded the ball down, and captain Morgan Gibbs-White backheeled it into the net to make it 1-1.

City responded quickly. In the 62nd minute, midfielder Rodri rose highest to head home a corner from Rayan Ait-Nouri and put his side 2-1 ahead. The Etihad crowd sensed victory.

Forest refused to fold. In the 76th minute, substitute Elliot Anderson combined with Callum Hudson-Odoi on the edge of the area and curled a precise shot beyond goalkeeper Ederson for 2-2. Late efforts from both teams stayed out as the match ended level.

The result left Manchester City seven points behind leaders Arsenal despite a game in hand. Nottingham Forest moved out of the relegation zone on goal difference. The champions dropped points at home once again in a tense title race.
