BREAKING: Mohamed Salah Will Leave Liverpool at the End of Season

Liverpool confirmed on Tuesday that Egyptian star Mohamed Salah will depart Anfield when the current campaign concludes in May 2026. The 33-year-old forward, who joined the Reds in 2017, informed manager Arne Slot and club officials of his decision last week.

In a statement released through his representatives, Mohamed Salah said he felt the time had come to explore new opportunities after nine successful seasons.

“I gave everything to this club and the fans, but I believe this is the right moment for a new chapter,” he stated. The forward added that he reached the decision after careful reflection during the international break.

Mohamed Salah signed a two-year contract extension in April 2025 that tied him to Liverpool until 2027. Club sources revealed that both parties discussed options to extend further, yet Salah made clear his intention to move on.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes acknowledged the news in a brief club statement. “We respect Mo’s choice and thank him for his immense contribution,” Hughes noted.

The winger struggled for consistency in the opening months under Arne Slot but regained form in recent weeks. Despite the upturn, internal discussions pointed to a mutual agreement that a summer exit served both sides best. Liverpool now plans to activate contingency measures for the attacking line.

Supporters reacted with mixed emotions across social media. Many praised Salah’s record of over 200 goals and multiple trophies.

Liverpool officials confirmed they will organise a proper send-off for the player in his final home games. The club has already begun scouting potential replacements, though no names surfaced yet.
