Abuja, Nigeria
The decomposing remains of a 55-year-old man were, Sunday, discovered inside a vehicle near the Annex Gate of the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
According to information obtained by Zagazola Makama and reported by IdomaVoice, a local Nigerian tabloid based in Makurdi, Benue State, the deceased was identified as Gaddafi Iwar, a Tiv man believed to be a construction labourer working within the premises.
He was reportedly found lifeless inside a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF around 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 7.
Following the discovery, security personnel and health officials moved the body to the National Assembly Clinic for examination. It was later transferred to Asokoro General Hospital, where it was declined due to the state of decomposition.
Leaders of the Tiv community, together with youth representatives, eventually conveyed the corpse to Gbawu Village, located at the border of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Kuje, for immediate burial in order to avert potential health risks.
