Bayern Munich advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday. The team defeated Atalanta 4-1 in the second leg for a commanding 10-2 aggregate success. Bayern now prepare to meet Real Madrid.
Harry Kane gave Bayern the lead in the 25th minute from the penalty spot. The English striker converted calmly after a foul in the box. Bayern continued to press forward. However, Atalanta defended deep and limited clear chances before half-time.
Bayern Munich extended their advantage after the break. Harry Kane scored his second goal in the 54th minute. He finished a quick counter-attack. Two minutes later Lennart Karl made it 3-0.
He slotted home a low cross from Luis Diaz. Then Luis Diaz added the fourth goal in the 70th minute. He struck from inside the area after good work by teammates.

Atalanta pulled one back in the 85th minute. Lazar Samardzic headed in from close range. The goal offered little consolation. Bayern Munich managed the closing stages comfortably and secured progression.
Harry Kane scored twice and led the attack throughout both legs. In the first leg away in Bergamo, Bayern Munich had already won 6-1 with goals from Josip Stanisic, Michael Olise (two), Serge Gnabry, Nicolas Jackson and Jamal Musiala. Michael Olise stood out in that match with a starring role.
After the second-leg win Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany said: “It’s a top result and a top performance. We were simply there from the very beginning. Ideally we would’ve kept a clean sheet but it’s a top result and a top performance.”
Bayern Munich will now face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals. The tie marks another classic European clash between the two sides.
