The loss left Arsenal on 70 points from 32 games. They dropped from a nine-point lead at the top. Manchester City can now reduce the gap to six points with victory over Chelsea the next day. The two sides meet at the Etihad Stadium the following weekend.
Bournemouth moved to 45 points from 32 games. The win extended their strong recent form and handed Arsenal a third consecutive domestic defeat following cup exits. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and his players now face increased pressure in the run-in.
