ADC chieftain Sunday Ohakwu spoke to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday. He expressed concerns over political tensions in Rivers State.
Sunday Ohakwu claimed that the All Progressives Congress grew unsettled by Rotimi Amaechi’s increasing influence. He described Rotimi Amaechi as a former federal minister and a prominent presidential aspirant for the African Democratic Congress.
Moreover, Sunday Ohakwu alleged a scheme to arrest Rotimi Amaechi. He stated quote We have discovered that the plot is to arrest the top opposition political figure unquote.
Sunday Ohakwu further explained that a top security official in the APC government coordinated the plot from the presidency. He added quote We strongly have it in our discovery that the plot is being coordinated by a top security official in the APC government in the presidency and could happen anytime soon barring any last-minute change of plans unquote.
In addition, Sunday Ohakwu disclosed that several meetings occurred in recent weeks. Participants formed a small committee to identify waterproof grounds for anti-graft agencies such as the ICPC EFCC or DSS to arrest detain and prosecute Rotimi Amaechi through the courts.
Finally, Sunday Ohakwu asserted that the alleged plot sought to undermine the African Democratic Congress’s readiness. The party prepared to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections.
