Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, is moving closer to breaking the goal record held by the late Rashidi Yekini.
Osimhen is now six goals behind Yekini, after he scored twice against Gabon in a 2026 World Cup playoff game on Thursday.
The Galatasaray striker had missed a chance to win the game at 1-1, but in extra time, he produced two difficult finishes to win it.
The first goal was his 30th goal for the national team, while his 31st was the icing on the cake.
This follows his hat-trick in Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier 4-0 win against the Benin Republic.
