Iran executed Hossein Pedaran on Saturday after courts convicted him of providing missile site intelligence to Israel. The judiciary-run Mizan news agency reported the hanging. Authorities said the Supreme Court had upheld the death sentence on charges of espionage and intelligence cooperation with Israel.
Pedaran provided Israel’s Mossad intelligence service with information on sensitive military sites in the central province of Isfahan. Officials stated that he carried out the espionage for financial gain. The case related to intelligence activity during the 12-day war.
Mizan said Pedaran faced accusations of transferring classified information about military and missile centres in Isfahan as well as details about personnel. Authorities linked some of the shared information to sites later affected in the conflict.
The agency reported that Pedaran initially sought contact with the United States Central Intelligence Agency through its website. After receiving no response, he approached Mossad.
Investigators stated that a notebook containing highly confidential missile-related information was found during a search of his home. They also recovered encrypted memory devices. Officials said Mossad had supplied him with equipment capable of taking photographs and recording video in secret.
The judiciary confirmed that the case followed legal procedures. The Supreme Court reviewed and confirmed the death sentence before the execution took place. Mizan identified Pedaran as the son of Hamidreza and stated that he had been arrested, tried and sentenced on espionage charges.
Iranian authorities described the actions as cooperation with a hostile intelligence service. They emphasised that the information involved sensitive military locations. No further statements from Pedaran himself appeared in the official reports beyond the recorded confessions cited by the judiciary.
