Hull City earned a 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The result extended the Tigers’ unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
Chelsea took the lead in the seventh minute. Morgan Rogers finished a low drive into the near post after João Pedro played him in. The goal ended Hull City’s clean sheet run from their first three matches.
Hull City responded before half-time. Mohamed Belloumi equalised in the 28th minute. Ryan Giles crossed after a long ball from goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis. Jorrel Hato misjudged the bounce and Belloumi struck with his left foot.
Six minutes later Belloumi scored again. Emiliano Martínez failed to claim a corner. Semi Ajayi headed against the crossbar and Belloumi converted the rebound via a deflection. Hull City led 2-1 at the break.
Chelsea levelled in the 66th minute. Cole Palmer cut the ball back from the byline. João Pedro hammered the finish into the roof of the net.
Both sides created late chances. Martínez saved well and Tzolakis denied Rogers in a one-on-one. Substitute Mohamed-Ali Cho missed a clear opportunity for Hull City near the end.
Hull City remained third with eight points from four games. Chelsea sat fourth on seven points. Sergej Jakirovic’s side had conceded only two goals against Chelsea after starting the season with three clean sheets. Xabi Alonso’s team continued their mixed start under the new manager.
