EXCLUSIVE: Umo Eno Commissions Amanyam–Mbiaso Road in Ikot Ekpene

Umo Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, commissioned the 6.475-kilometre Amanyam–Mbiaso Road in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. He performed the ceremony on Thursday at Amanyam as part of activities marking the state’s 39th anniversary.

The project ranked as the third among 39 projects scheduled for commissioning across the state. Eno used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s focus on infrastructure that improves residents’ lives.

Eno told the gathering that his government prioritised development over unnecessary politicking. He stated that the administration tailored every project to benefit the people.

“Whatever developmental efforts that we are putting in place are tailored towards the overall benefit and improved living conditions of our people. We don’t play politics with the welfare of our citizenry,” he said.

He further announced plans for additional projects in the area. These included the Ikot Ekpene International Market, Compassionate Homes, Primary Health Centres and more roads. Eno also praised the people of Ikot Ekpene for their support.

Eno Ibanga, the Commissioner for Works, presented an overview of the road. He explained that the single-carriageway measured 6.475 kilometres with an eight-metre width.

The project included 12.95 kilometres of side drains. It traversed the Amanyam, Ifuho, Ibong, Ikot Udoe and Mbiaso communities. Ibanga added that officials supervised the work carefully to ensure quality and durability.
