OFFICIAL: Real Madrid Complete €140m Move for Diomande

Yan Diomande signed a seven-year contract that runs until 30 June 2033. The Spanish club announced the agreement with the German side in an official statement. The club said Diomande “is tied to our club for the next seven seasons, until June 30, 2033.”

Real Madrid paid an initial fee of around €125 million. Add-ons of up to €15 million could take the total to €140 million. If the full amount is reached, the move will set a new club record. It will also surpass the previous outlay for England midfielder Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in 2023.

Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool both pursued the 19-year-old earlier in the summer. Paris Saint-Germain later withdrew after a bid of about €120 million was rejected. Liverpool had an earlier offer turned down as well. Real Madrid then secured the player.

Diomande joined RB Leipzig from Spanish club Leganes one year earlier for €20 million. In the 2025-26 Bundesliga season he scored 12 goals and provided eight assists. He was named the league’s Young Player of the Season. Across all competitions he contributed 13 goals and around nine or ten assists in 36 appearances.

He also featured for Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup. After the tournament he returned to Leipzig training before travelling to Madrid for his medical.

The signing marked Real Madrid’s sixth arrival of the summer under head coach Jose Mourinho. The others were Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Carlos Espi.

Diomande can play on either wing, though his preferred role is on the right. Leganes are due a percentage of the transfer fee under the terms of his earlier move to Leipzig.
