Senator Orji Uzor Kalu addressed Abia State All Progressives Congress stakeholders on Friday. He spoke at a meeting in Umuahia and urged supporters not to waste votes in the 2027 presidential election.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no serious challenger. He made the statement during the Abia APC stakeholders’ meeting. Kalu said the opposition parties remained in disarray and lacked the capacity to mount a credible contest.
“The good news is that we are going to win the nation comfortably,” Kalu stated. He added, “President Tinubu has no competition, he has no rival. The opposition is in tatters, absolutely tatters, quote me.”
Kalu continued, “Maybe if Orji Kalu is running in APC, that could have been a challenge to President Tinubu. But today there’s no challenge because you don’t need to use only the southeast or somewhere else to challenge the president of Nigeria. It’s not possible. Let us not throw away our votes. Let our votes be valid.”
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu emphasized the need for broad national backing. He explained that a candidate requires support from at least 24 states to win the presidency. Kalu advised the Igbo people to pursue national unity to strengthen future chances for a president from the region.
He dismissed concerns about northern support for Tinubu. Kalu said, “People say the northerners won’t vote for Tinubu. Why? If they vote for another man, you start afresh. That man you are going to vote for will do eight years. Tinubu is already four years gone.”
Kalu defended the administration’s economic reforms. He noted that global challenges affected many countries, including the United States, Britain, Canada, Ghana, and South Africa. Kalu added, “I know past presidents that have made more mistakes than Tinubu, and this is no mistake.”
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu called for cohesion within the Abia APC. He warned that poor management could create factions and lead to electoral losses. He urged leaders at ward, local government, and state levels to treat members fairly.
The meeting also featured contributions from other APC figures who pledged support for Tinubu’s re-election and Kalu’s continued representation. Kalu assured the gathering that the APC would perform strongly in Abia in 2027.
