President Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the All Progressives Congress presidential primary with 10.9 million votes on Saturday. The ruling party conducted the direct primary across wards in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Tinubu defeated his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, who polled just over 16,000 votes.
Party officials collated results from 8,809 wards nationwide. Tinubu recorded 10,999,967 votes while Osifo received 16,504 votes. The president secured overwhelming majorities in most states. In several states, Osifo scored zero votes.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu described the exercise as peaceful and transparent. He thanked party members for their support and commitment to the democratic process. He stated that the high turnout showed the strength of the party ahead of the 2027 general election.
Stanley Osifo accepted the outcome. He congratulated Tinubu and urged party unity for future contests. Many party leaders praised the smooth conduct of the primary. They highlighted the direct voting format as a success.
