Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle unveiled two squads on May 20, 2026. The lists covered the 2026 Unity Cup in London and friendlies against Poland and Portugal. Star forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, midfielder Alex Iwobi, and captain Wilfred Ndidi earned selections across the squads.
Eric Chelle retained several experienced players for the Unity Cup. He also introduced fresh talents and home-based stars. Nigeria, as defending champions, face Zimbabwe in the semi-final at Charlton Athletic’s The Valley on May 26. The final pits the winner against either Jamaica or India.
Wilfred Ndidi leads the Unity Cup squad as captain. Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, defender Bruno Onyemaechi, and forwards Moses Simon, Akor Adams, and Terem Moffi also feature. New invitees include Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, who switched allegiance to Nigeria. Home based players such as Michael Atata, Tosin Oyedokun, and others received calls.
The Unity Cup squad blends diaspora prospects with domestic league talents. Eric Chelle used the tournament to test emerging players ahead of future competitions.
Eric Chelle recalled established internationals for the June friendlies. Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi joined the squad alongside Calvin Bassey, Frank Onyeka, and Paul Onuachu. Nigeria play Poland in Warsaw on June 3. They then face Portugal in Leiria on June 10.
Wilfred Ndidi features in both squads. The friendlies form part of preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria drew Madagascar, Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau in their group.
Super Eagles officials described the dual selections as a balanced approach. They combined squad renewal with competitive readiness.
