Bayo Onanuga, senior special adviser on information and strategy to President Bola Tinubu, criticized the Nigeria Democratic Congress on Friday. He stated that the party lacked an accessible manifesto on its website.
Onanuga made the remarks in a post on his verified X account. He explained that he visited the NDC website twice out of curiosity. Each attempt to download the manifesto failed. “No document found” appeared as the response, he said.
The NDC received court registration in February. However, the party had not uploaded any manifesto months later, according to Onanuga. He compared the NDC to the Africa Democratic Congress. “Like ADC, the NDC has no plan for Nigeria yet,” Onanuga wrote.
Senator Henry Seriake Dickson serves as the national leader of the NDC. Onanuga noted that Dickson had claimed the party would wage an ideological battle in the 2027 elections. Despite this position, the party failed to provide concrete documents for public review, Onanuga added.
Onanuga challenged Dickson directly. “Senator Dickson, I look forward to your vision and mission for Nigeria, as your party appears to be the camp for the politically displaced and desperate,” he stated.
The NDC had promoted six policy pillars, including economic transformation and security. Critics described these as vague. Onanuga insisted that Nigerians deserved a detailed governance plan ahead of the next general elections. He expressed disappointment over the missing document despite the website’s invitation to view the manifesto.
The development came as the NDC held its first national convention and attracted high-profile figures. Onanuga’s comments highlighted ongoing questions about the opposition party’s preparedness.
