Hon. Blessing Onuh took a frontline role in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign on Saturday. The member of the House of Representatives and daughter of African Democratic Congress National Chairman Senator David Mark joined the leadership of the Take Action Campaign Organisation.
Director General Tony Nwulu announced the appointment. He presented Onuh’s appointment letter at the organisation’s campaign office in Abuja.
Onuh pledged her commitment immediately. “I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure President Tinubu’s victory at the upcoming election,” she said
She also detailed the group’s purpose. “This organisation is focused on showcasing the various achievements and educating the Nigerian masses on the reforms and policies of Mr President,” she added.
Senator David Mark serves as National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress. He coordinates a broad opposition coalition that includes former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former governors Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola, Aminu Tambuwal, Liyel Imoke and Emeka Ihedioha. The coalition aims to challenge Tinubu in 2027.
However, the group already showed signs of strain. In January, Atiku Abubakar’s son Abba Abubakar dumped the opposition, joined the All Progressives Congress and directed his structure to mobilise support for Tinubu.
Onuh’s decision placed her squarely in a pro-Tinubu structure. The Take Action Campaign Organisation works to promote the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and explain its policies to voters nationwide.
Tony Nwulu, a former member of the House of Representatives who sponsored the Not Too Young To Run bill, leads the organisation. He described its focus on voter education and achievement highlights.
The timing proved politically delicate. Onuh’s alignment with Tinubu’s camp added pressure on the African Democratic Congress to maintain a united front as the election cycle advanced.
