Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, factional national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, declared that all hope remained alive for the opposition party. He spoke during the 103rd National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on March 27 2026.
Turaki addressed concerns over internal crises and court cases that threatened the party’s participation in future polls.
Kabiru Tanimu Turaki opened the meeting with strong assurances. He stated, “I want to assure Nigerians that PDP is alive and all hope is not lost.” Turaki added that the party would field candidates for all elective offices in 2027.
He said, “To all aspirants who have stood with us thus far, we assure you that, by the grace of God, our party will field candidates for all elective offices, in compliance with Article 6(2) of the Constitution of the PDP as amended in 2017.”
Kabiru Tanimu Turaki revealed ongoing talks between PDP factions. He noted that leaders on both sides had broken the ice. Turaki explained, “Reconciliation is ongoing, and all hope is not lost.” However, he stressed that any unity must follow the party’s constitution. Turaki affirmed the PDP would make sacrifices but would never back another party’s candidate in 2027.
Kabiru Tanimu Turaki insisted the PDP would remain on the ballot. He declared, “PDP will be on the ballot.” Turaki highlighted the party’s resilience as a key strength. He reassured members that the leadership worked seriously to resolve disputes and ensure full participation across all 774 local government areas.
Kabiru Tanimu Turaki urged members to stay committed. He expressed confidence that the PDP could still work together. Turaki concluded with optimism for the 2027 general elections. He said the party offered a credible platform for political contests so that power could return to the people.
