Eid Message: Stay Peaceful All Year, Wike Urges FCT Residents

Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, urged residents of Abuja to sustain the values of compassion, forgiveness and unity they learned during Ramadan as Muslims celebrated Eid-el-Fitr.

Nyesom Wike issued the message on Friday. He congratulated Muslim brothers and sisters in the Federal Capital Territory on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast. The minister described the sacred month as a period of spiritual rejuvenation, self-reflection and renewal.

Wike called on all residents to apply the core teachings of Ramadan in daily life. “As we celebrate Eid Fitr – the culmination of the Ramadan fast, I urge you all to carry forward the values of compassion, forgiveness, and unity that Ramadan embodies,” he said.

Additionally, the minister commended the generosity shown across religious lines. “Within the FCT, it is reassuring to see Muslims sharing and caring for fellow Muslims and non-Muslims alike in the last 30 days,” Wike stated.

He added that individuals and corporate organisations demonstrated commitment to maintaining Abuja’s pride of place as the centre of unity, peace and harmony in Nigeria.

Wike also invited residents to use the occasion for prayer. “This occasion also offers us a unique opportunity to pray for our leaders, and indeed, our country Nigeria, that we may continue to enjoy peace and progress,” he said.

Furthermore, the minister addressed the upcoming political season. “I urge all residents regardless of political affiliation, gender or tribe to take a cue from the Muslim Ummah, and maintain peaceful conduct throughout the year while praying for the FCT, and the nation as a whole at this period,” Wike declared.

He noted that security agencies worked round the clock. The agencies ensured residents celebrated the occasion in peace, tranquility and orderliness.

Wike reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s dedication. The administration continued to secure lives and property while developing Abuja into a world-class city.

The minister ended with good wishes. He prayed that Allah accept the fasts, prayers and good deeds of the faithful and grant everyone a blessed Eid-el-Fitr.
