Super-Sub Kvaratskhelia Strikes Twice as PSG Beat Chelsea 5–2 in UCL

Bradley Barcola gave Paris Saint-Germain the lead in the 10th minute. João Neves nodded down a cross from Ousmane Dembele, and Barcola controlled the ball before lashing it past Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

Malo Gusto equalised for the visitors in the 28th minute. Enzo Fernandez switched play to the right, and Gusto took a touch before drilling a low shot beyond Matvei Safonov.

Ousmane Dembele put Paris Saint-Germain back in front in the 40th minute. He turned Wesley Fofana and slid a precise finish into the far corner.

Enzo Fernandez drew Chelsea level once more in the 57th minute. Pedro Neto raced past Marquinhos and pulled the ball back for Fernandez to fire into the top corner from 12 yards.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique brought on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for Desire Doue in the 62nd minute with the score at 2-2. The Georgian immediately lifted the home side’s threat.

Vitinha gave Paris Saint-Germain the lead for the third time in the 74th minute. Barcola intercepted a loose pass from Jorgensen, Kvaratskhelia squared the ball, and Vitinha chipped the stranded keeper.

Kvaratskhelia then took centre stage. He cut inside from the left and curled a stunning strike into the top corner in the 86th minute. In stoppage time he tapped in a fifth goal from Achraf Hakimi’s cutback.

Kvaratskhelia said after the match, “We didn’t stop, we tried to score more and more.” The result leaves Chelsea with a mountain to climb in next week’s second leg at Stamford Bridge.
