A former personal chef filed a lawsuit against Brazilian football star Neymar. She claimed gruelling conditions at his Rio de Janeiro mansion caused injuries. The chef sought £37,500 in compensation.
The chef initiated the legal action in Brazil. She sued Neymar and the outsourcing company that hired her. Court documents detailed violations of her employment contract from July 2025 to February 2026.
She stated that the contract required weekday shifts only. These included work from 7am to 5pm on Mondays to Thursdays and 7am to 4pm on Fridays. However, she often worked 16-hour days.
The chef prepared breakfast and dinner daily for Neymar and up to 150 guests. Additionally, she carried 10-kilogram meat portions and heavy supermarket bags. She stood for extended periods without breaks.
Furthermore, the lawsuit noted that she worked weekends, including Sundays. This exceeded the agreed terms. The chef earned approximately £1,065 monthly, including overtime and bonuses.
The intense workload caused back problems and hip inflammation. The chef required medical tests and consultations. She claimed the conditions violated Brazilian labour laws, which mandate lunch breaks for long shifts.
In her statement, the chef’s legal team said, “The claimant did not regularly enjoy a lunch break. Throughout the entire employment contract, the plaintiff was required by the defendant to clock in for the lunch break, even though she remained actively working during that period.”
She demanded compensation for severance pay, unpaid overtime, medical expenses, moral damages, and missed rest periods.
Neymar declined to comment on the allegations. His representatives provided no further statements when approached by media. The case highlighted labour issues in celebrity households. Authorities continued to review the claims.
