Congressman Riley M. Moore Presented A Report To The White House On The Persecution Of Christians in Nigeria

Congressman Riley M. Moore joined members of the House Committees on Appropriations and Foreign Affairs at the White House. They formally presented the report on February 23 2026.

President Donald J. Trump requested Congressman Riley M. Moore and Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole to lead the investigation. The probe focused on persecution against Christian communities and security challenges in Nigeria.

The report stemmed from a bipartisan investigation. It included a congressional trip to Nigeria hearings consultations with religious leaders meetings with internally displaced persons and engagements with senior Nigerian officials.

The document recommended policy measures such as aid cuts sanctions and visa bans. These steps aimed to address the killings of Christians and escalating extremist violence.

Congressman Riley M. Moore released a statement after the meeting. He thanked President Donald J. Trump for redesignating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern for religious freedom violations.

Additionally Congressman Riley M. Moore highlighted the administration’s commitment to protecting Christians from persecution. He addressed broader security challenges in Nigeria.

Congressman Riley M. Moore introduced House Resolution 866. The resolution condemned the persecution of Christians in Nigeria and supported decisive action by President Donald J. Trump.

A Nigerian government delegation led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu met with Congressman Riley M. Moore. The meeting occurred prior to the report’s presentation.
