Nyesom Wike approved the cancellation of 485 land documents in the Federal Capital Territory. The action followed a review by the Department of Land Administration and the Abuja Geographic Information Systems.
Officials conducted verification processes on the submitted documents. Many applications did not pass the necessary checks for genuineness. Consequently, authorities confirmed several as fake.
The Federal Capital Territory Administration issued a public notice on Monday. The notice, marked as Batch I, detailed the cancellations. It targeted applicants who had submitted Area Council land documents for regularisation.
The notice stated quote “This is to inform the general public, particularly applicants who submitted Area Council land documents for regularisation, that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has approved the nullification or cancellation of applications that failed the necessary official checks for genuineness and have been confirmed to be fake.” It added quote without prejudice to further notices and/or publications.
The cancelled documents covered layouts in Bwari Area Council, Abuja Municipal Area Council and Kuje Area Council. In Bwari, the action impacted Ushafa Village Expansion Scheme, Ushafa Extension and Dawaki Extension 1.
In Abuja Municipal Area Council, authorities nullified titles in Kurudu-Jikwoyi Relocation, Kurudu Commercial, Karu Village Extension, Nyanya Phase IV Extension, Jikwoyi Residential, Sabon Lugbe and Lugbe I Extension. These areas saw multiple files expunged from the regularisation database.
In Kuje Area Council, the Kuchiyako One layout faced cancellations. Affected parties included the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the Ministry of Justice Staff Multi-purpose Cooperative Society among others.
