Bashir Shaba: Niger Gov’s SSA resigns, dumps APC for ADC

Bashir Shaba, Senior Special Assistant to Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago, has resigned from his position.

Shaba also announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a statement explaining his decision, Shaba cited deep concerns about the current political climate and the direction of governance in both Niger State and the country as a whole. He noted that his action followed extensive reflection and broad consultations.

According to him, he could no longer continue in his role after reassessing his personal values and public responsibilities. He explained that the prevailing political developments no longer matched his beliefs, principles or aspirations for meaningful public service.

Shaba further revealed that he has decided to pitch his tent with the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

“As a result, I have formally ended my membership of the APC,” he stated. “I have chosen to associate with the African Democratic Congress because I believe it provides a more credible avenue for promoting good governance, transparency, inclusiveness, and a people-focused political future for Niger State and Nigeria.”

He emphasized that his understanding of politics is rooted in service to the people rather than personal gain.

“For me, politics should always be about service, accountability, and leadership that puts the people first. When one’s conscience is no longer in harmony with political realities, integrity requires making a decisive choice,” Shaba concluded.
