US Warns Western Allies that Recognizing Palestinian State Could Push Israel to Annex Gaza

American Secretary of State, Senator Marco Rubio revealed that the Administration of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump explicitly warned Western allies, especially the Administration of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the British Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Keir Starmer that their plans to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian State would trigger Israeli annexation of the West Bank, characterizing the current crisis as wholly predictable.

According to a report by the Times of Israel on Friday last week, the United States of America’s Secretary of State, Senator Marco Rubio while speaking with journalists in Ecuador, declined to condemn the discussions of Netanyahu’s Government about annexation, instead it blamed the country members of the European Union for initiating a counterproductive diplomatic maneuver, referring to the rising calls from European nations to recognize Palestinian Statehood.

He also stated that the American Government had cautioned countries like France, Belgium, Canada, and Australia that their recognition efforts would not actually create a Palestinian State, but would instead provoke reciprocal actions from the Israeli government under the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, adding that true Statehood emerges from negotiations rather than a press conference somewhere.

In his words, Senator Marco Rubio said “What you’re seeing with the West Bank and the annexation, that’s not a final thing — that’s something being discussed among some elements of Israeli politics. I’m not going to opine on that today. What I am going to tell you is that it was wholly predictable. We told all these countries before they went out and they did this. There wasn’t going to be a Palestinian State, because that’s not the way a Palestinian State is going to happen, because they have a press conference somewhere. We told them that it would lead to these sorts of reciprocal actions and it would make a ceasefire [in Gaza] harder.”

The top American diplomat, Senator Marco Rubio, went further to reiterate his controversial claim that the announcement by the French Government to officially recognize the Statehood of Palestine in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly would embolden the Palestinian nationalist Sunni Islamist political organization, which is known as Hamas.

He also asserted that the resistance group, Hamas, walked away from the negotiating table on the same day the Administration of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, revealed its recognition plans, reflecting the consistent position of Trump’s Administration that Palestinian Statehood should result from direct negotiations rather than unilateral international recognition.
