2027 Talk Heats Up Rivers APC Chieftain Urges Tinubu to Pick Wike as Campaign DG

Rivers State All Progressives Congress chieftain Princewill Dike urged President Bola Tinubu to appoint Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike as Director-General of his 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.

Dike, a Port Harcourt-based legal practitioner, made the call while he spoke with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Monday. He expressed confidence that Wike would deliver victory for Tinubu.

Additionally, Dike highlighted Wike’s proven political skills. He noted that the former Rivers State governor displaced opponents with ease during his time in office.

Dike added that Wike possessed a vast network across Nigeria. Moreover, he said Wike knew how to raise campaign funds without troubling the president.

“Rather than embezzle campaign funds, as is usually the case, he will even add his own money,” Dike stated. “He will even work 24 hours, criss-crossing the length and breadth of the states to achieve results.”

Furthermore, Dike pointed out Wike’s recent success. He delivered Area Council election candidates to the APC in the Federal Capital Territory, even though Wike remained a Peoples Democratic Party member.

Dike continued, “Wike knows the right politicians who can deliver. He is widely loved by Nigerians, particularly the youths.” He described Wike as a goal-getter with the Midas touch. Anything he touches turns to gold, Dike declared.

Dike also recalled past victories. In the 2023 general elections, Wike delivered his successor and all elective seats in Rivers State, including Tinubu, who belonged to an opposing party.

He quoted a 2014 statement by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Odein Ajumogobia. Ajumogobia withdrew from the Rivers governorship race because Wike knew politics at his fingertips.

Dike concluded with a direct appeal. “It is, therefore, my fervent prayer that P-BAT should cherry-pick the star boy of his administration, Minister Wike, to be the Presidential Campaign Council DG of his re-election,” he said.

Dike, a close associate of Wike, insisted opponents would struggle if Wike led the campaign.
