2027 Race: APC Must Secure Abia for Tinubu, Says Kalu

The All Progressives Congress held its state congress in Umuahia on Tuesday. Delegates elected former State House of Assembly minority leader Chijioke Chukwu as the new chairman. The gathering proceeded peacefully and focused on unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Okezie Kalu addressed the delegates directly. He declared that the party now belonged to its owners.

Additionally, Kalu credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for insisting on harmonisation and consensus during the process. “This is a new leaf in political party activities,” Kalu stated.

Furthermore, Kalu assured total support for Tinubu. He explained that Abia had clear reasons to back the president because of his work in the state. “Abia state is ready to give the President the vote he is looking for,” Kalu said. He continued, “We are not negotiating 25 percent. We are going to give him massive votes. We don’t have an alternative.”

Kalu added that the South East would not waste votes in 2027. “President Bola Tinubu has sons and daughters in Abia State,” he noted. “Come 2027, we are voting for President Tinubu.”

Chijioke Chukwu accepted the position and thanked stakeholders. He promised an open administration and targeted 500,000 registered members. Moreover, Chukwu declared an end to factions. “There will be no more division,” he said. “It is now time for reconciliation and expansion.”

The party also planned a mega unity rally to market its renewed strength. Leaders confirmed their focus remained on delivering victories for Tinubu and the APC across all levels in 2027.
